Walter has a new paint job! And it was all hand made by the very same people we help week in and week out – our friends on the streets!
I’d been trying for months to come up with a good way to get Walter freshened up, but each time I went down a path I thought might work just never quite seemed “right” so I abandoned it.
Then one day I was visiting some friends at Community Canvas – a safe space for all neighbors to express themselves through art – and it hit me: why not see if they want to use Walter as a canvas?! A perfect way to show off their talents while at the same time supporting the project that supports them?
I hit up their fearless leader, Javonne, and without second thought she accepted the challenge on the spot, having never even tried it before : )
A month later – voila! Walter has some fresh ink!
[Signing their names at the end!! 🥹🥹]
I was absolutely blown away and had no idea what to expect… My only “guidance” was “no profanity” and “the name of the closet should go somewhere on it” lol… The entire direction came straight from them! And turned out beautifully!!
Thank you SO much to everyone who made this happen! I smile every time I see it!!
