We now accept collectibles!

antique silver punchbowl spoon - tiffany & co

Filed under “other turns we didn’t expect to take” with this project, lol – we now accept collectibles and antiques as donations!

Why, you say? So we can fund raise without actually having to fund raise πŸ™‚

This idea came up randomly last month when we were anonymously donated a couple silver spoons that turned out to be over 100 years old (!). Not quite something our audience has a need for, so I took them to a good antiques dealer friend of mine who shockingly informed me that they were quite valuable.

So we made a trade: two spoons for my friend, and a $500 donation to The Closet! Equating to 4 full gas tanks worth for Walter! Which as you know is quite expensive these days…

[Last week’s fill up]

It then sparked an idea: why not open this up to others too who may not have clothes or money to donate, but perhaps other valuables which could similarly support our mission?

So starting this month, we are now accepting the following which allows us to continue to raise money without people actually having to give money : ) With 100% of the proceeds going straight to The Closet, of course.

  • Collectible Coins (particularly silver and gold)
  • Silverware/Antiques
  • Sports Cards/PokΓ©mon Cards
  • Automobiles – a bigger process, but a bigger impact πŸ™‚

If you happen to have any of these laying around and want to put β€˜em to good use, let us know!

And huge thanks again to the anonymous person for not only the spoons, but for this new avenue for us as well. You helped more than you probably would have guessed! : )
